Consolidated Learning Services is an approved provider for many healthcare disciplines continuing educational courses.  We will work with you in assisting your client to meet the educational objectives or learning needs dictated by the licensing board in a consent order, or assist you with designing courses for your client to complete prior to the hearing if you believe that will strengthen your client’s case.   We do not discuss cases with licensees prior to their hearings or offer suggestions or any legal advice concerning their board issues.   Our standard advice to any licensee facing disciplinary action is to retain counsel immediately.  If a consent order is already issued, we will tell a licensee whether we can provide a course to meet the dictates of that consent order.

We do provide a free 30 minute phone consultation with attorneys to discuss the generic issues of your client’s case and discuss with you what tools we have to assist you and your client in presenting the best defense at the hearing.   Due to the overwhelming number of ‘cold calls’ concerning disciplinary issues, we ask that you have your staff email us at info@learningsvc.com and request a phone consultation.  Please indicate the best number and times to reach you and we will call you back at those times.  If you prefer a specific date and time, please have your secretary email us potential times for a phone conference and we will coordinate a mutually agreeable time.   Unless you have an unusual schedule, we are usually able to speak with you within 2-3 business days.

Standard courses for disciplinary issues:   There are standard courses already available for use as disciplinary remediation available.  We currently offer;  Documentation, Healthcare Ethics, Medication Administration (designed for RN’s), Pharmacology for LVN’s (LPN), Leadership and Management, Interpersonal Skills, and a Nurse Refresher Course.

Custom designed courses:   In most disciplinary cases, the learning objectives are very specific to that individual.  Any course designed to meet those objectives is useless to us for future use.  We will custom design a course(s) for your client.  All CE approval boards require that CE be written and developed by those considered to be knowledgeable in that field/area.  We have a broad range of healthcare disciplines working with our company, however, due to the specific nature of disciplinary issues, there are cases where we need to hire outside consultants to meet the specific objectives in a consent order.  The cost for a custom designed course will start at $250 for a 1-2 hour CE course and will increase depending upon what content is required and whether we need to bring in an outside specialist to approve the content materials.  In most cases, the board will dictate specific objectives, the length of the educational experience, and other criteria to be met by the licensee.   After our discussion about your client’s needs, we will fax you a written estimate of the cost of developing the specific course.   We will bill your client directly for a 50% deposit prior to starting course development.   At completion, we will directly bill your client for the remaining balance and upon payment, the course will be provided for your client.  Upon successful completion, we do issue one certified copy of the certificate.  Please indicate to us whether we are to send that directly to the licensing board, to you, or to the client directly.

Clinical rotations:    We do not offer clinical rotations to anyone with disciplinary issues.  There are multiple issues involved.  The first is the licensing issue itself, the second is insurance, and the third is liability.  Any clinical rotation offered by this company is always done as a precepted experience by a staff person in a local facility.  It is always a gratis contract.  The preceptors usually do not have the background as educators, it is in their field of licensure.  They are not trained to deal with disciplinary issues or equipped to handle the multitude of personal problems that usually accompany a disciplinary problem.  Additionally, the clinical facilities are unwilling to accept the liability of a licensee with disciplinary problems.  Lastly, it is cost prohibitive for us to insurance these folks and it is extremely difficult for them to purchase malpractice insurance independently.
