PA nurses

Pa offers two options to reactivate a lapsed license:

1.    To reactivate using the reactivation (refresher course), you must successfully pass the theory portion of this course, then find a clinical site in PA willing to do your clinical and successfully pass clinical.  After successful completion of this course, PA BON requires you to go to a PA school of nursing to take what is called an NCLEX predictor exam and pass with an 80%.  The school of nursing determines the cost of this exam and will give you that price when you call to schedule.  This option for reactivation is the most expensive, the most time consuming, and the hardest to accomplish.  The predictor exam is actually harder than the NCLEX.    NCLEX predictor exams are designed to be administered to undergraduate pre-licensure nursing students.  It is sometimes given in the first year of nursing school and is always given right before graduation.  The pass rate is deliberately set a bit higher than actual boards, so that nursing graduates who are seriously borderline at passing can identify their deficits and study those areas prior to attempting licensure.

2.   The second option is to take the theory portion of the refresher course and then simply schedule a date to re-take the NCLEX in PA.  You do not need to do clinical.  You will receive a certificate of completion for the 120 contact hours, which a new employer will wish to see.  Please read our section on the NCLEX exam to see how it is scored and administered.  To date, our NCLEX pass rate for folks who have taken NCLEX after taking this refresher theory is 100% success.
