List of Accepting States

This list is updated at least monthly with current information.  The states listed are ones that have either approved the course, accepted it, or have no requirement for course approval.  It is provided as a guide only.  It is your responsibility to check with your Board of Nursing to ensure that the course meets their criteria.

Theory content is always 120 hours regardless of your State Board's minimum hours.

Our program has a clinical requirement of 180 clinical hours.  If your particular state has set a minimum of clinical hours in the refresher policy, and that is the number you choose to perform, your certificate will indicate the number of hours you actually performed in a clinical setting.   If your BON requires that we monitor your clinical rotation, there is no reduced fee if you perform less than 180 hours.  If your BON does not state a minimum number of clinical hours, you will be expected to do 180 hours.

Clinical supervision is provided by a preceptor in your home state.  Clinical is ONLY available if your state law requires that you have clinical hours as part of an approved refresher course for reactivation of a lapsed license.  You are expected by most Boards and our company to find your own preceptor.   We do recognize that many of you no longer have contacts in nursing due to being out of practice.  The clinical coordinator will work with you to assist you in obtaining the clinical site of your choice.  As with any school of nursing, we are guests of the facility.  You will be expected to adhere to the policies of the institution.  All facilities retain the right to refuse to accept students.  Please do not take that personally.  It is usually due to a large number of students already committed to that facility or the lack of an appropriate preceptor.  Clinical sites vary by state.  Some states require clinical to be done in an acute care setting.  Other states are more accommodating to those with limitations and allow clinical in alternate settings.  We have indicated all the information we have regarding your particular state.  If you are from a state that requires acute care clinical and you are given an exception by the state, we need to have that in writing prior to starting your clinical rotation.

We will work with you as much as possible to assist you with your transition back to active practice.

Re-Taking NCLEX (State Boards):      Some states require you to retake NCLEX after the refresher.  Most states allow you to be relicensed by exam instead of reactivation.  HOWEVER, if you have not worked in more than 3 years, you will need a refresher course to maximize your chances of passing Boards.  NCLEX review courses are designed for new grads and assume current information.  Refresher courses are designed to update nurses on changes that have occurred since they attended school or last worked.   Your Board's website contains information about taking NCLEX.
